We love our tree covered lot even though the moss threatens to take over at times. And we enjoy our friendly neighbors and the informality of Lake Forest Park life.
My Community Service
I served two terms on the Lake Forest Park Environmental Quality Commission and one term on the city’s Planning Commission. For two years I was chair of the Urban Forest Task Force, updating our tree ordinance and formulating recommendations for preserving our community forest. For 15 years, I have been a member and co-chair of the LFP StreamKeepers, doing water quality monitoring and stream education. I am a board member of the newly-formed Sno-King Watershed Council, which works to preserve and restore watersheds.
Through my church I am involved in several programs to assist the homeless: foot care services as part of United Way of King County’s resource exchange program, and preparing and serving meals through the Capitol Hill Community Lunch program.
My Career and Educational Background
My work background is in corporate training, with experience in the banking, insurance, municipal government and manufacturing fields. My recent work history includes 12 years with the Boeing Commercial Airplane Group where I helped implement lean manufacturing practices in the Everett factory, and five years at Shoreline Community College working to improve manufacturing training programs there and at other community and technical colleges around the state.
I have degrees from the University of Washington (BA cultural anthropology, M.Ed. curriculum and instruction) and a Masters Degree from Columbia University in instructional technology.
